Welcome to the Porthcawl Open, the grand finale of our 2026 Elite Series and a brand-new milestone for the tour. Taking place on the 1st and 2nd August 2026, this event marks a special conclusion to the season on a brand new location.
Set along the beautiful shoreline of Porthcawl, the tournament brings high-level beach volleyball to one of Wales’ most scenic seaside towns. With its sweeping beaches, vibrant local atmosphere, and dramatic coastal backdrop, Porthcawl provides the perfect stage for athletes to battle for crucial ranking, especially as this final stop awards double Elite Series ranking points, adding even more intensity to the race for the overall title.
As the last stop of the tour, the stakes are at their highest – every rally, every set, and every match could decide the ultimate standings. Join us for an unforgettable weekend of top-tier competition, community spirit, and a fitting finale to an incredible season.
Accommodation Offer
We have booked the fantastic Margam Field Studies Centre for our exclusive use from Friday 31st July-Sunday 2nd August. It’s just a short drive to the beach and is set in the beautiful Margam Country Park.
Included in the offer is accommodation on Friday and Saturday night, a continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning, and the group evening meal on Saturday 1st August.
Our goal by booking this is that we celebrate an amazing year on the Fireball Elite Series by staying all together and enjoying each other’s company. The centre is comfortable, within easy reach of the beach and is set in beautiful countryside. We will be celebrating our wonderful community!
The accommodation is in comfortable bunkbeds, in rooms of four people. We will place you with your playing partner and one other team of the same gender.
Accommodation costs ÂŁ90 per person for three meals and two nights.

The Elite Series
The brand-new Fireball Elite Series builds on the back of several years running some of the UK’s top events. We are hosting four UKBT 4* Open events this year and we guarantee our players a fantastic experience, both in terms of a high-level playing experience and in all the details around the events.
Our focus goes beyond competition. We’re committed to nurturing the community of athletes who join us at each stop, creating opportunities to relax, connect, and enjoy the social side of the sport, while ensuring an environment where you can battle fiercely for every point.
Each event will feature:
- Amazing trophies and hall of fame for each event
- Double elimination format + guarantee of 3 games
- A free 3* tournament on Sunday for those who are eliminated on Saturday – also part of the Southwest Series.
- Players’ dinner on the Saturday
- Commentary across the weekend
- Referees on the Sunday
- Centre court setup with music
- Accommodation offer included with the booking
This season also marks the launch of our official Elite Series Ranking. Every athlete who competes in our Elite events across the Summer earns Fireball Ranking Points, all contributing toward the final rankings. Our fourth and final stop, the South Wales Open, awards double Fireball points, making it a pivotal moment in the race for the overall title. At the end of the series, the player with the highest Fireball points per gender will take home ÂŁ200, with ÂŁ100 awarded to second place and ÂŁ50 to the player finishing third.
Each of the four locations has a character of its own, offering a unique atmosphere and distinct weekend experience.
The Porthcawl Open
The grand finale returns to South Wales in Porthcawl on the 1st and 2nd August. Here, competitors will be offered an optional accommodation and food package for the weekend, as well as the possibility to enjoy a Saturday night players’ dinner at Margam FSC.
A prize money of ÂŁ400 per gender is available, with ÂŁ250 awarded to the winners, ÂŁ100 to second place, and ÂŁ50 to third places.
The Wave Trophy is on the line, and the Fireball Elite Series title will be awarded to the overall season champions. Don’t forget that this event is worth double points on the Firebball Ekite Serie srankings!
Format
This UK Beach Tour Open event follows the gruelling Double Elimination format, with 32 spots available per gender. Quarterfinals and onwards will take place on the Sunday.
Included in your entry is guaranteed play on Sunday in a UKBT 3* Tournament.
Registration & Important Dates
This tournament offers 32 entry spots per gender, with registration closing on Monday, 20th July 2026 at 12:00. Entries are determined by your UKBT ranking points.
If you are concerned that your points may not be sufficient for qualification, you may submit a wildcard application. The wildcard form is available on the UKBT website and must be emailed to hello@fireballbeachvolleyball.com by the 20th July 2026.

Cancellation policy
Our cancellation policy can be found here. Our events will go on in most weathers – so please be prepared to come along! Pulling out due to rain or cold on the day will not be treated as an acceptable excuse, and you will not receive money back.
If the event is cancelled for any reason, you will receive a full refund.
If your circumstances change and you cannot attend, please let us know with 48 hours notice to receive a full refund. Between 48 hours and the event start time, you will receive a half refund; after the event start time you will not receive a refund.
